Faith Formation

At St. John, we believe that faith formation is a lifelong process that never ends. God calls us to be constantly learning and growing, in order to love God and our neighbors as best we can. As such, we offer ongoing opportunities for members of all ages to learn alongside others in Christian community.

Godly Play

Godly Play is a Montessori-style learning environment focused on the needs of children at this place on life’s journey. The Godly Play approach teaches classical Christian language in a way that enhances the child’s authentic experience of God. Our teachers ask questions, wondering aloud about stories and ideas, and encourage creative play.

While COVID-19 restrictions are in place, our Godly Play teachers record their lessons. These lessons are available on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/stjohnuccfreeport/videos each week after worship, so that children and families can watch and discuss them together.

Kids Worship

Kids Worship is a multi-age classroom that uses the Whirl curriculum by Sparkhouse to reinforce Bible stories and continue children’s growth in faith. As the name suggests, this class is meant to be a worshipful space catered to the needs of this age group where children can ask questions, interpret Scripture in community, and connect with God and one another.

While COVID-19 restrictions are in place, this class meets via Zoom room each Sunday morning at 11:00am. To get the login credentials for that meeting, please email the church office.
